Overview

Debbie Burbage Recruitment is delighted to be working exclusively with our client based in Northampton to recruit a Finance Assistant. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing management accounts for one trading company within the group, turnover c£2m.


Key Responsibilities

  • Posting Purchase Ledger invoices and handling payment runs for both UK and International transactions.
  • Preparing and conducting the first review of management accounts for review with the FC.
  • Carrying out detailed month-end analysis, including accruals, prepayments, credit card analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing and submitting the VAT Return.
  • Reconciling intercompany balances.
  • Managing Year-End audit preparation, dealing with auditor queries.
  • Taking on ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Financial Controller.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be qualified by experience, with at least five years in a similar role, or hold an AAT Level 3 qualification. The role requires a strong understanding of Nominal Ledger, journal processing, and reconciliations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, especially in Excel, with skills in V-lookups, pivot tables, SUMIF, and IF statements. While experience with Sage is desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong organisational skills, effective written and verbal communication, and a methodical, detail-oriented approach to meet deadlines are also essential qualities for this position.


Remuneration 

  • Salary: £27,000 – £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm (Monday to Friday)
  • Holidays: 22 days holiday + statutory bank holidays.
