Overview

We are working exclusively with a Northampton based, well-regarded and respected business to find their next Finance Manager. In this key role, you’ll engage closely with the accounting function while making valuable commercial contributions. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to take on a “hands-on” role where they can make impactful decisions and support meaningful change within the organisation.


Key Responsibilities

As a direct report to the Finance Director, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading all aspects of accounting operations, including the preparation of monthly and annual accounts, as well as weekly and monthly management reports, and collaborating effectively with external accountants during the year-end.
  • Supporting the annual budgeting process and conducting regular financial forecasts.
  • Ensuring accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet control accounts, stock, and fixed assets.
  • Overseeing day-to-day financial transactions, including petty cash, card payments, and sales, and managing month-end procedures.
  • Processing daily bank transactions, updating cash flow statements, and completing monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Managing credit approvals for new customers and overseeing existing accounts.
  • Processing weekly and monthly payroll duties, including annual P11D submissions and HMRC/pension compliance.
  • Reconciling quarterly VAT accounts and coordinating tax return submissions with HMRC.
  • Reviewing project costs post-completion to identify low-profit areas and recommend improvements.
  • Partnering with the Finance Director to assess and refine product pricing strategies.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for this position will be a Part-Qualified/Qualified Accountant or Qualified by Experience. We are looking for a professional with a minimum of three years’ experience in managing the complete financial function within an SME.


Remuneration 

  • Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum, dependant on experience
  • Hours: 8am to 4.30pm – Monday to Friday – Office based
  • Holidays: 28 days including statutory days   
  • Benefits Auto-enrolment pension, on-site parking
