Overview

Debbie Burbage Recruitment is working with a reputable company based in Northampton to find an organised and proactive Accounts Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance career within a supportive and forward-thinking business.

As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting the finance team with day-to-day tasks. The position offers plenty of variety and the chance to work closely with senior finance colleagues, gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Processing invoices, payments, and expenses in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Supporting the reconciliation of bank accounts, ensuring records are up to date and correct.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly accounts.
  • Maintaining and updating records, ensuring everything is well-organised and accurate.
  • Liaising with suppliers and customers to resolve any queries, ensuring strong working relationships are maintained.
  • Providing administrative support to the finance team as needed, helping to ensure smooth running of the department.
  • Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory filings.

The Candidate

We’re seeking an organised and enthusiastic individual with previous experience in an accounts role. You should have previous accounting experience and be comfortable working with numbers. Familiarity with Sage accounting software and Excel would be an advantage, but training can be provided.

  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy in your work.
  • Previous experience in Sales and Purchase ledger processing, along with basic management accounts experience.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload, while also being a team player.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop in the role.

Remuneration 

  • Salary £27,000 – £32,000 per annum depending on experience
  • Hours of work 8.30 am – 5.30 pm – Office based
  • 24 days holiday + statutory bank holidays
  • Study support, Pension, On-site parking
