Debbie Burbage Recruitment is delighted to be working exclusively with a reputable an established company based in Moulton Park, Northampton, to help them find their next Financial Controller. This is a key role within the company, with the current Financial Controller retiring at the end of the year, and it offers a fantastic opportunity to take on a well-structured finance function and contribute to the future of the business.
As Financial Controller, you will play a vital role in ensuring the ongoing financial success and stability of the company. Reporting directly to the MD, you will take full responsibility for the financial operations and act as a trusted advisor to the board on all financial matters. This role provides the perfect opportunity to step into an established and smooth-running financial function, while also offering room for fresh perspectives and continuous improvement.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly and in line with company goals. A key part of your job will be preparing management accounts and providing clear, timely reporting on KPIs to senior leadership, so they have a clear understanding of the business’s financial health and performance.
You’ll also be managing the finance team, supporting and guiding them to ensure accurate reporting and strong financial controls. As well as the day-to-day financial operations, you’ll take ownership of producing detailed reports, and working closely with other departments to communicate key financial information in a way that’s easy for non-financial teams to understand.
Your role will involve identifying risks and opportunities, working with management to plan for the future and provide financial insights that support long-term business growth. You’ll continuously review and improve financial processes and reporting systems, including the way KPIs are tracked and presented, ensuring everything is as efficient and effective as possible.
Additionally, you’ll handle tax compliance, audits, and cost control, making sure the business is well-positioned financially and compliant with all necessary regulations. Managing cash flow and ensuring that financial commitments are handled appropriately will also be key.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need solid experience in a similar financial leadership position, ideally as a Financial Controller. You’ll be comfortable managing both day-to-day operations and strategic planning. Strong leadership skills are essential, as you’ll be managing a small team, and you’ll also need to be a great communicator who can collaborate with people across the business. Relevant accounting qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience are required.
